When Hilary first inquired with me, she asked for photos that “felt like a Lana Del Rey song.” A DREAM!! As a documentary-style photographer, I live for those unscripted, heartfelt, timeless, and romantic moments—and this wedding, set in the heart of Savannah, had plenty to capture.
Hilary started her day at the Harper Fowlkes House, a stunning historic mansion that’s pure Savannah charm. The getting-ready suite—with its antique touches and dreamy natural light—was the perfect spot for Hilary to get into her classic satin gown with lace accents.
The ceremony was intimate and beautiful—just close family and friends gathered in the historic courtyard of the venue. Guests eagerly awaited the start of the ceremony, sitting attentively in wooden chairs tied with flowing satin ribbons. Watching Josh’s face light up as Hilary walked down the aisle was one of those moments during a wedding day the makes me tear up behind my camera.
Cocktail hour was filled with laughter and good conversation as guests mingled and reminisced. Hilary and Josh added a touch of fun with a champagne tower—a moment everyone was excited for. As they poured the champagne, the tower unexpectedly came crashing down, leading to lots of laughs and clinking glasses to celebrate anyway. It was the perfect icebreaker and a reminder that even imperfect moments can be beautifully unforgettable.
After the ceremony, we carved out some time for couples portraits, starting in the stunning Harper Fowlkes House. The mansion’s timeless interiors and elegant details provided the perfect backdrop for classic, romantic shots. Then, we took a vintage car from Callan’s Classics through Savannah’s charming downtown streets, stopping at cobblestone alleys, historic facades, and picturesque squares.
Savannah has this way of blending history and romance, and it makes every wedding feel special. Whether it’s cobblestone streets, moss-covered oaks, or historic mansions like Harper Fowlkes, the city offers endless inspiration. It’s no wonder so many couples choose it for their most important day.
Hilary and Josh’s wedding was everything a wedding should be: personal, heartfelt, and beautiful. If you’re planning a wedding in Savannah and love the idea of authentic, documentary-style photography, let’s connect. I’d love to tell your story.
